Texas Hold’em Poker, also known as Texas Hold’em, is one of the most beloved versions of Poker in online casinos today. This game attracts a large number of players due to its appeal, requiring players to have skills, strategies, and luck. To participate in Texas Hold’em, players need to understand the rules and basic terminology. In this article, we will explore the basic terms used in Texas Hold’em Poker.

Introduction to Texas Hold’em Poker

Texas Hold’em Poker is one of the most popular card games in the world, using a 52-card deck and usually played by 2 to 10 players. Texas Hold’em Poker originated in the state of Texas in the USA in the 1900s and then spread worldwide. Currently, Texas Hold’em is considered the most popular and beloved game in online casinos.

In Texas Hold’em Poker, each player receives 2 private cards, followed by 5 community cards dealt on the table. Players go through several different betting rounds: Flop, Turn, and River. In each betting round, players can choose to Call (follow the bet), Raise (increase the bet), or Fold (abandon the hand). The player’s goal is to create the best 5-card hand from the 2 private cards and 5 community cards. The player with the strongest hand wins and receives the entire bet amount on the table.

Basic Terminology in Texas Hold’em Poker

Before playing Texas Hold’em Poker, besides choosing a reputable address like Fun88 – the leading online betting site in Asia, licensed by the Isle of Man and PAGCOR, players also need to understand the basic terminology in Texas Hold’em.

  • Table

The table is where the game of Texas Hold’em Poker takes place, usually rectangular with seats around it. Each table can accommodate 2 to 10 players, depending on the rules of each casino.

  • Pot

The Pot is the total bet amount from all players in a Texas Hold’em game. The winner receives the entire bet amount in the Pot.

  • Bet

Bet is the amount each player places into the Pot in each betting round. Players can bet in cash or with chips provided by the casino.

  • Street

Street refers to the betting rounds in a Texas Hold’em Poker game. There are a total of 4 betting rounds in a game, including: Pre-Flop, Flop, Turn, and River.

  • Pre-Flop

Pre-Flop is the first betting round in a Texas Hold’em game, after players receive their 2 private cards. This is an important stage for players to determine if their hand has potential.

  • Flop

Flop is the second betting round in the game, when 3 community cards are dealt on the table.

  • Turn

Turn is the third betting round in a game, when the next community card is flipped on the table. This betting round is similar to Flop, but with an additional community card.

  • River

River is the final betting round in a game, when the last community card is flipped on the table.

  • Button

The Button is a symbol on the table, indicating the current player and the position of the first player to bet. This position moves clockwise after each game.

  • Blind

Blind is the amount players must bet at the beginning of a game. There are two mandatory bets: Small Blind and Big Blind, placed by the players sitting to the left of the button.

  • Fold

Fold is the action of refusing to participate in the game and bet. Players can fold at any betting round unless there has been a previous bet.

  • Call

Call is the action of betting an amount equal to the previously placed bet. Players can choose “Call” if there has been a previous bet.

  • Raise

Raise is the action of betting an amount greater than the previously placed bet. Players can choose “Raise” if there has been a previous bet.
